Support
Answers to the questions people ask most, and a person to write to.
If you need help right now
- If you’re in danger, call your local emergency number.
- In the US, you can call or text 988, the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. It is free, at any hour.
- Anywhere else, findahelpline.com lists free helplines where you are.
- Or reach out to someone you trust.
Solastone can’t respond to emergencies, and messages sent here aren’t watched around the clock.
Using Solastone
What do the four colors mean?
They are four places you might be, and you choose which one. Solastone never decides for you.
Green: “Feeling good. I can cope.”
Yellow: “Something isn’t quite right. I could use support.”
Red: “I’m overwhelmed. Body’s taking over.”
Purple: “Barely here. Floating through.”
On a good day, touch the ring carved in the stone while it rests on green, and it fills with gold. Then say how many minutes you have, and Solastone offers one practice that fits.
How do I make a breath longer or shorter?
While you breathe, turn the circle by its brass bead. Turning it one way lengthens the breath you are in; the other way shortens it.
You can also tap the pace line under the circle (like “in 4s · out 6s”) for small steppers. Your pace is saved for that practice, for next time.
What is “Set down”?
When you let something go (in the thought log, Let anger move, or Let it go), the words dissolve as you breathe out.
They are set aside on your phone, never backed up or uploaded, so you can change your mind. Bring them back, or let them go for good, from Settings → Set down.
Is Solastone therapy?
No. It’s a wellness tool, not medical care. It doesn’t diagnose, treat, or monitor any condition, and it isn’t a substitute for care from a professional. It can sit alongside care you already have.
Your data
Where does my data live? Is it private?
On your phone, in Solastone’s own private storage. There is no analytics, advertising, or tracking.
If you sign in, what you keep is backed up to your account, and thought logs are encrypted on your phone before they leave it. What you set down and the letters you keep never leave the phone.
How do I back up, or use Solastone on another phone?
Accounts are optional; everything works without one. To back up, sign in from Settings → Account, with an emailed code, a password, Google, or Apple on iPhone and iPad.
Your check-ins, notes, thought logs, toolkit, shelf, words, mantras, and settings are then backed up and kept in step on every phone signed in to the same account. What you set down and letters you keep stay on the phone they are on.
How do I delete my account?
Settings → Account → Delete account. It erases your account, everything backed up to it, and your thought-log key, right away.
What is on your phone stays until you remove it: Settings → Erase all check-ins, or delete the app.
No longer have the app? Write to support@solastone.co from the email address on your account, and we will delete it.
What do letters and mantras send to AI, and how do I turn them off?
Both are optional and need an account. Nothing is sent until you have seen exactly what will be sent and said yes, and nothing is sent again unless you ask. Each goes to Anthropic’s Claude through Solastone’s server, and Anthropic doesn’t use it to train its models.
A letter from your stone (on What helps me) sends a summary of your last six weeks: the states you chose, the practices you used and whether they helped, times of day, and places. Feeling words only if you turn them on. Never your notes, thought logs, or anything set down.
Write me one (in Your mantras) sends only the words you type, the kind of hope you picked, and the name of your most recent state.
Turn either off in Settings → Your data. If something your stone writes feels wrong, tap Report on it.
Solastone itself
What is the Solastone stone?
A physical companion we’re making; the app is its likeness. A round quartzite stone set in carved walnut, turned by the thumb a quarter at a time, with four gems you can tell apart by touch and breath patterns you can feel. It isn’t available yet.
How do I get the app?
Solastone is on the App Store now, free, for iPhone and iPad. The Android version is coming to Google Play; join the waitlist and we’ll write when it’s there.
